I am so LUCKY it is showing here in my city. Wohoo.

Anyway, here is my review:

I really thought the movie was good. REALLY good. The most obvious complaints of the critics are often defined by the movie's lack of cohesion (with the non-linear timeline, it can be a bit hard to follow, well, for dumb people), and intertwining plots and subplots. But that is what made the movie interesting in my opinion. The movie is shot beautifully and edited seamlessly, contrary to what some critics say. The style of camera shots were very much like how 21 Grams and Traffic were shot, and with the 2 major storylines crossing each other's pathways, such style was put to great use. Some may complain that the movie touched on so many themes --- betrayal, sex, drugs, corruption, love, hate --- to the point of thinking that the movie lacked focus. But the thing is, watching the movie, it felt as if every little scene, character, and theme was there for a reason. I don't think anything is wasted at all.

Anyway, the performances are great. Zoe Saldana gave a fantastic performance. MY GOD. The transition of her character from this innocent girl to the troubled, rebellious person that she had become, was perfectly captured by her performance. WOW. And the guy who played Patrick, Shy's friend who's in love with him, I thought did a fantastic job too. I really felt for his character, and maybe just because I could relate. Victor Rasuk had a lot of screentime, and I don't think anything was wasted at all. He was good, and so was Bill Paxton.

Anyway, with ORLANDO, I gotta say that he was really good. Beyond good actually. He was amazing. There were times when I could not believe that I was watching him deliver those lines and perform such intense scenes!!! Anyway, he truly embraced the character. MY GOD. He became SHY. It was really amazing to see him in such wide range of emotions. The character started of as being this carefree, innocent young man who was just in love with a girl, and ended up ruining his own life because of this love! I think this is by far his best role. He was truly at his best element here. There was a scene where he confronted Andrea's brother in the ened that will make people say that he was a bit OVER-EMOTING but I thought he delivered everything the role required him to deliver, and even more. After watching this movie, I don't think I'd ever doubt again that he has talent. He was that good.

I left the theatre feeling WOWED by him. Good Lord was he amazing in this movie! And the love scene, that scene alone is worth the admission ticket.

But seriously, the film was good. It had a vision and a style that I truly appreciated. It is an intense little film. For those who don't like cursing in a movie, this movie is not for you. It had about the same amount of cursing as SCARFACE. But yeah, dirty mouthed Orlando is something that turns me on. Sorry, it just does. Anyway....

So yeah. WATCH IT!

I am so gonna watch it again this weekend.
